Module 12

1. First I selected the video "Andy Warhol: Images of an Image". I chose this video because I have seen his artwork, and learned a few things about him in many different classes. I find it enjoyable to look at his artwork and learn about it, as well as learning about him. The second video I chose was "The Art of Henry Moore". I decided to watch this video because while reading the description I found it to be interesting and I wanted to learn more about him. 2. In the Andy Warhol video the key concepts discussed were silk screening. Silk screening was a huge part of Warhol's artwork and allowed him to create much of the artwork he did. Another concept talked about was repetition. Warhol repeated the silk screen printing many times in many different pieces, and in each one it creates a different effect.  In the video about Tony Moore they talked a lot of how he used the mother and child in his artwork and how it was in all the different pieces he made. Module 10 Video review

1. The reason I chose to watch "The Impact of Cubism" and "Dada and Surrealism" is because both the titles had caught my attention and I wanted to learn more as to what they were describing with the titles. 2. In the video "Dada and Surrealism" I learned that Dada was a form of artwork that was very free. One of the first "dada" artists was Schwitters. Schwitters did make art before he started making this new type of artwork, but it wasn't until then that he really became known. In the video "The Impact of Cubism" I learned that Picasso was one of the famous artists that really took to this new style and helped it spread amongst society. I also learned how the use of shapes can portray different ideas in our minds. 3. The video "Dada and Surrealism" connects to the book because the book describes "dada" as a "yes" to life, creativity and silliness and spontaneousness. The video talks about the meani...

Module 10

The first mask I used for inspiration was chosen because I liked how the use artist used repetition with the color of the circles. I also like how the eyebrows contrast the base color of the mask and the curve of them brought your eyes down the middle of the mask. The second mask I chose was chosen because when looking at it I liked the use of line in the beard. The maker of this mask also puts emphasis on the eyebrows and the nose. I looked to take emphasis and bring it to my mask while creating it as well. The third mask I chose was the one that my inspiration grew the most while looking at. The mask has a lot of variety and the use of cool and warm colors contrasted which was very appealing to look at. The animal on top of the mask really stood out to me to me as well. Also the lines down the middle of the mask brought my eyes up and down the mask in an easy way.  In my mask I tried the use the contrast of warm and cold colors to make it ...

For this project I chose pencil. This was because I knew I was going to struggle while using my left hand and it would be easier to erase multiple times. Question 3. It felt awkward using my left hand. I felt like finding even the most comfortable way to hold it was very challenging during it. I did like how I drew lighter because i wasnt able to push down as much. Question 4. I think they are successful, each in their own ways. Using my left hand was difficult but I was still able to work towards the detail I was able to add with my right hand. Question 5. Yes, Though a struggle for me, I see where I could gain while making art if I give something a go with my left hand. Something unintentional could happen but lead me in a new direction and bring success.
