Module 2

Key Concepts:
After watching the videos and doing the reading I learned that art is constantly evolving. The ideas of influential change and they tend to change the ideas in which people view art and understand it. Though this is not talked about in the videos or reading, music interest changes over time as does other forms of art such as, painting, poetry, and plays. The change on art aesthetics changed and continues to change over time. Another topic discussed is how our brains are able to distinguish things in art even though they are 2 dimensional. Our brains allows us to read into what we are seeing and develop an understanding of it. Lastly a key concept also talked about is the use of color to please the eye and allow it to look like it is 3 dimensional when we look at it. This allows us to look deeper into it, as talked about in the video, symmetry is also used to do this.

Morris Weitz
"what I am arguing then, is that the very expansive, adventurous character of art, its ever present changes and novel creations, make it logically impossible to ensure any set of defining properties"
Morris Weitz came off as one of the most influential based on his quote because he is saying that there is nothing that can make something specifically a work of art. The conditions around it such as role and representation are the only defining things.

Watching the video of Changeux it was very interesting to see how he started it off with the discovery of tools and the development of humans to link it to how we view art and the aesthetics that make up art today. When Ramachandran shared his question of why some works of art have such a powerful effect on the human mind and this led me to start thinking about it more as well. The most interesting thing learned is that art has the full intention to distort and change the perspective in which something is looked at and that is what makes it pleasing to the eye of some many. This was talked about by Ramachandran. Both of the speakers views on art led me to begin thinking more about art, its affects and how it has been viewed by me in the past and how it is viewed now.

The videos and readings relate to the text because they all talk about how the viewing of art has changed and the ways in which art is used to attract people and to allow people to look at things in a different way.

I found the video of Changeux and Ramachandran to be very interesting, this video added depth in understanding starting with basic questions and the questions that Ramachandran asked himself were questions that I have began to think about as well in relation to art. Also Changeux starting with the start of time allowed me to find more understanding in how and where art and the conversation of art all started.

Module 9

Module 9. Question 1. Using my hand as the subject, I hand to look at it in deeper detail. Also keeping it steady and not moving it to much in order to keep the same view was difficult. Question 2. For this project I chose pencil. This was because I knew I was going to struggle while using my left hand and it would be easier to erase multiple times. Question 3. It felt awkward using my left hand. I felt like finding even the most comfortable way to hold it was very challenging during it. I did like how I drew lighter because i wasnt able to push down as much. Question 4. I think they are successful, each in their own ways. Using my left hand was difficult but I was still able to work towards the detail I was able to add with my right hand. Question 5. Yes, Though a struggle for me, I see where I could gain while making art if I give something a go with my left hand. Something unintentional could happen but lead me in a new direction and bring success.

Once I began taking just a couple pictures, I couldn't put my phone down and looking at things in different ways. When doing this project I allowed myself to look at the things around me with an open and free mind and photograph a lot of the everyday things around me that represent the definitions. This project was one that truly allowed me to free my mind and look at everyday things I see in a more creative and expressing way. During this project m...
